ciaoceramics:

In the ceramics class, we are to help Andrea create thousands of these tiny white geometric pieces. The process is..

Pour the slip, which is provided by Andrea, into the molds. The molds have to be watched closely so that when the slip begins to dry and shrink, usually creating holes inside the pieces, more slip can be filled in.

Once the slip has dried, a razor blade can be used to scrape off the excess clay. Before the piece is too dry, a small hole has to be drilled in for the glazing process.

Each piece then has to be carefully sanded so all of the corners are very sharp.

Next comes the firing and glazing process, but we haven’t gotten there yet! More to come—
